How to Fix the “An email is required to create this contact” Error
If you see the message “An email is required to create this contact” while adding someone to HubSpot through Hublead, it means the “Contacts must have an email address” setting is currently enabled in your Hublead account.
This setting forces every imported contact to include an email. When it’s active, you’ll need either:
- to have an existing email for the contact on LinkedIn, or
- to use 1 enrichment credit (automatically) to find an email before import.
How to disable the email requirement
-
Go to your Hublead Dashboard → app.hublead.io
-
Click on Settings in the sidebar → https://app.hublead.io/settings/general
-
Under General Settings, look for the toggle “Contacts must have an email address”
-
Turn it off
Once it’s off, you can import LinkedIn contacts to HubSpot without needing an email.
💡 Optional: Keep it enabled with auto-enrichment
If you want every contact to have an email but don’t want to handle it manually:
- Keep the toggle on
- Make sure you have email credits available
- Hublead will automatically enrich the contact during import (1 credit per contact)
