How to deal with "Unexpected error: Cannot convert undefined or null to object"

The issue is rare and usually temporary, related to HubSpot rate limits or to missing LinkedIn data.

The error message "Unexpected error: Cannot convert undefined or null to object" may show up in some cases when clicking “Create Contact” or “Link Contact.”

What this error means

  • If HubSpot is temporarily unavailable or you're hitting API rate limits, HubSpot can reject requests for a few minutes.
  • Also, this can happen when Hublead tries to send contact data to HubSpot, but one of the required properties (LinkedIn URL, Job Title, and Country) is empty or misconfigured.

How to fix this error

Case 1: HubSpot rate limit is exceeded

  1. Wait 10-15 minutes before retrying.
  2. Refresh the LinkedIn page.
  3. Click 'Create Contact' or 'Link Contact' again. The contact should sync normally after the cooldown.

Case 2: Missing or invalid LinkedIn properties

  1. Make sure the following properties haven't been deleted: LinkedIn URL, Job Title, and Country. To do so, visit this page (or go to Settings > Properties in HubSpot).
  2. If they haven't, ensure they're configured as 'Single-line text'
  3. Refresh the LinkedIn page.
  4. Try clicking 'Create Contact' or 'Link Contact' again.

    Case 3: Still not working

    1. Export the console logs (follow the instructions outlined on this video).
    2. Send the logs to support@hublead.io, including the LinkedIn profile URL and timestamp of the error.

    How to prevent this error

    • Always keep the Hublead Chrome extension up-to-date.
    • Ensure your HubSpot connection is active in Hublead Settings.
    • Avoid mass-creating contacts too quickly to prevent hitting rate limits.
